Project Description

The project was titled as Risk Sensitive Land Use Planning (RSLUP) in Godawari and Lamkichuha Municipalities of Nepal. It was commissioned by USAID/ TAYAR Nepal – Improved Disaster Risk Management Project. The main objective of this project is to develop RSLUP incorporating both community based participatory inputs and parameters based on scientific hazard modelling to reduce the existing, future and residual risks in close coordination with local government representatives, local communities and other major stakeholders. In this project, we conducted multi-hazard risk assessment for seven major hazards (flood, earthquake, landslide, wind, fire, animal attack, coldwave/heatwave) and four elements-at-risk (buildings, population, agricultural land and roads). Vulnerability assessment, loss and risk analysis were done as well.
